Book 54: Living in the Lap of Goddess: The Feminist Spirituality Movement in America by Cynthia Eller

My busy schedule is why it took me 2 months to finish this book, not the book itself. I discovered this book maybe a decade ago, because there are so few copies floating around I bought this one secondhand. This is my third time reading it.

Eller does an excellent job capturing the demographics, history, major players, and subgenres of the feminist spirituality movement. Published in 1993, it's outdated in many ways but that gives an even more accurate snapshot of the time. This is very much an introduction to an interesting and under-studied field, with plenty of references for the reader to branch off and learn more. I think this is the book that prompted me to finally read Mary Daly!
